It's true Maestro Järvi, people can't tell the difference between what's good and what's a bad performance. I see that every time a performance by so-called "sought after artists" which failed the professional standards still being approved by the majority audience as "great" because they can't tell the difference. One main reason is because the education system failed to deliver. We have many degree holders, even sometimes PHDs but don't seem to even have the fundamental skill a music educator should have and these people are teaching the future generation. Where I am, people in the region justify sub par education as "music for fun". What kind of future can the professional standards hold itself, if there is lesser demand for gold standards because of ignorance? That was how I stopped believing...

Dear friends, I just came across this wonderful interview. Christa Ludwig was a famous singer, but I did not know her charm and talent for storytelling until today. I am German, but lived in the USA for 30 years. I would like to thank the person who wrote the English subtitles! There were maybe two or three minor glitches (just in case someone wants to be extra perfect), but what a wonderful job, and so important for those of you who want to learn and understand more about Karajan.
